Heritage, Timber Building and Seismic Strengthening
NCE staff have over 35 years of structural engineering experience and hold membership in the Structural Engineering Society, New Zealand (SESOC) and the Timber Design Society (TDS).
We have been involved with hundreds of structural engineering projects over our careers including commercial, residential, industrial and infrastructure-related projects.
Our favourite projects involve using renewable or recycled resources like timber. We are strong advocates of preserving our heritage. We are proud to have been involved with strengthening and rebuilding of local buildings like the Boathouse, the Field’s Newman Building and Smyth’s Law / Mama Cod, amongst others.
We are also pleased to be the structural designer for the Stonefly Lodge which featured recycled heavy timber beams and framing, along with unique exposed trusses.
